I got smart this time and wrote down my notes as I was reading instead of trying to remember.

"Ash leapt from the window." - That escalated quickly. Or did she leap "back" from the window? Otherwise I'm thinking she's suicidal. I am confuse.

I like the trees. The trees have a depth of character that has so far been lacking overall. Hoping for more to get filled in and round things out.

Also, old magical dude in a tree saying "golly gee" is totally sus.

The use of the word "cuss" to me is a bit more casual than the more noble language I would expect of Elves, even for one who is more emotinally charged. I might expect something along the lines of, "Father, you have always refrained from profanity" or "Father, such language!" or something of the sort. Just my opinion.

I also like when things are unexpected. Ask for one thing, get sent another. Not like that happens in real life *at all.*

The geography is a little lost on me. Ash is all excited that her parents are in Athren, but maybe I missed exactly where that was. Was that the "two-days' ride" bit? Do you happen to have a map?

Angry, emotional, meathead bodyguard trope incoming.

"All the Elves and Light Benders, plus Amalin, Jeth, and Casten, really everyone in Spell," - Is Spell a place? I thought this was Centaur Woods?

"I had it sung into existence so your horses could travel up as well." - I thought Ash observed earlier that it was difficult for two people to walk side-by-side? I don't know what kind of horses your Elves are riding, but they must be ponies.

I'm also enjoying the creep of violence in the Elves. The god-like characteristics and perfection are so annoying. I'm happy to have a real flaw finally, one that has to be dealt with.

"If you ever find yourself next to a solid bit of anything—a rock, a mountain, a whatever—you simply speak this word and though there will be nothing around to guide you, you should be able to create a door." - I'm sure this will be useful in the future. *pending sarcasm*

I like Nawthen. I really do. He seems to be the most honest one of the whole freaking group. Meathead bodyguard, yes, but honest.
